With more than 200 million members, there’s a good chance you’re reading this as a subscriber to Amazon Prime. I’m one of them, too! But what if you notice a charge or two for the service that you don’t expect? For example – what is an Amazon Prime Cons Charge?
If you see an Amazon Prime Cons Charge on your credit card or bank statement, it’s likely reflecting your monthly or annual subscription fee for the service. Keep reading, and I’ll explain how you can manage this fee if you want to stop paying it.
What does ‘Amazon Prime Cons Charge’ mean?
‘Amazon Prime Cons Charge’ usually refers to a monthly fee for Amazon’s Prime membership. This charge will typically appear on your credit card statement or your bank statement if you’re signed up for a monthly recurring package.
You may also see this charge appear if you pay for Amazon’s services yearly. You can pay for Amazon Prime upfront in one go or in 12 installments.
How do I cancel my Amazon Prime subscription?
To prevent further Amazon Prime Cons Charge messages and fees from appearing on your credit card statement, follow these steps:
- Log into your Amazon Prime account.
- Head to your ‘Prime’ central.
- Choose ‘Upgrade, Cancel, and More’ from the features listed.
- You’ll then need to follow the on-screen steps to cancel your account.
If you pay for Amazon Prime monthly, you can usually cancel within a month’s notice of fees being applied. If you’ve paid for the service and haven’t used it, you may be able to get a refund for your current billing period.
I don’t have an Amazon Prime account – why have I been charged?
If you’ve been charged for an Amazon Prime account and haven’t authorized setting one up, always call or contact Amazon directly to report fraud. It may be that someone has set up an account fraudulently.
The team may be able to cancel your account and waive the charges. However, you’ll also need to call your bank or card issuer to cancel fees and re-issue a new payment method.
If you don’t remember setting up an Amazon Prime account but have still used the service, you may be liable to still pay any outstanding fees.
What does Amazon Prime include?
Amazon Prime is a subscription service that provides users with access to the following:
- Free delivery on many items available through Amazon.com
- Expedited delivery on many of the same items (including same or next-day delivery)
- Amazon Prime Video streaming – thousands of TV shows and movies
- Access to several free ebooks through Kindle
- Reward points for no-rush shipping if you delay dispatch
Amazon Prime can prove to be highly cost-effective to people who order items regularly from Amazon and use their streaming services frequently. If you don’t order more than one item a month or stream more than two shows/movies a month, however, the cost may not be worth it.
In any case, it’s at least nice and easy to cancel an Amazon Prime account. Do let me know if you have any other comments, queries or suggestions via email.
