Whether you’re completely new to investing, or simply want to get some insight from experts and seasoned investors on how to manage your portfolio for the best, listening to some of the best investment podcasts online is a great way to start.
It’s also a great way to get free advice! I personally have a few of the best investing podcasts lined up on my phone to listen to on the way to work – the best, in my opinion, are insightful and laid-back in equal balance.
So, I’ve put together a quick rundown of what I feel to be the top investment podcast and portfolio advice shows available for you to listen to right now. Do you have any favourite shows or podcasts I might have missed? Let me know in the comments!
6 of the best investing podcasts you should listen to right now
Whether you’re a total beginner or want to know some tricks and tips to take your investments to the next level, these shows are likely to be right up your street.
Best All-Around Investment Podcast: Motley Fool Money
If you’ve spent any time at all reading up on portfolio management online, you’ve come across Motley Fool. It’s one of my favourite resources for up to date information on complex investment news, and its podcast goes one better.
Tune in on a Friday, and you’ll have access to 40 minutes of investment talk with Chris Hill and the Fool panel, breaking down what’s been going on with stocks – and what experts have to say about the frankly up and down financial climate we’re living through.
Recently, Hill and the team have been talking about Roth IRAs, Walmart’s stock, and – naturally – crypto. Check out the latest Motley Fool Episodes, or listen through Spotify, iHeart, Stitcher, Apple or Amazon.
Best Investment Podcast for Cryptocurrency Geeks: The Pomp
Anthony Pompliano brings his own brand of entertaining crypto news and dissection to the masses through his daily show, which generally runs for an hour at least. While The Pomp is probably not going to be the best listen for completely crypto newbies, it’s a riveting listen for any active traders.
Pompliano makes it easy for crypto traders with a little experience to follow some of the more complex topics the blockchain throws out there – and he’s had all kinds of stars and household names on his show to discuss Bitcoin and more.
He’s a host you can really get behind – he’s successfully invested in a variety of profitable companies, meaning his advice is hardly spitballing.
Recently, The Pomp’s been talking about Bitcoin amidst incredible volatility on the markets – and where it all started. What’s more, previous episodes dig deep into corporate concerns such as hiring and firing amid the shaky economy. You can listen through Apple, and take a look at previous episodes of The Pomp here.
Best Investing Podcast for Newbies and Pros: Stock Club
Stock Club, a twice-monthly podcast hosted by the team at MyWallSt, is a great little resource if you’re just getting into investing, but are mystified by some of the clunkier bits of jargon and methodologies. Stock Club takes you through some of the tougher spots to navigate in the news, and helps you appreciate it all the more – with entertaining, insightful chatter.
I like the laid-back attitude of the hosts at Stock Club – there are stacks of shows out there that are pretty dry and require you to already know the markets inside and out. For casual investors, if you’ve got 40 minutes to spare each week, it’s well worth tuning into the crew at MyWallSt.
The podcast has recently been discussing topics as diverse as crypto collapses, Elon Musk, TikTok, stock holdoffs and personal investing mistakes. There’s lots to get into!
Take a look at episodes available to listen via Stock Club, or tune via Apple, Google Podcasts, or Spotify.
Best Investment Podcast for History Lovers: We Study Billionaires
Every Saturday, We Study Billionaires hosts Stig Broderson and Preston Pysh take a look at some of the world’s most influential, divisive and successful investors of all time – the clue truly is in the name of the show!
This weekend listen welcomes you to around an hour of insight into big-money leviathans such as Warren Buffett, Bernie Marcus, Bill Gates and more. If there’s a high-value investor you want to learn more about, there’s a good chance this podcast will dive into them at one point or another!
WSB is less about glorifying billionaires and is all about learning from successes and mistakes. What’s really taken these billionaires into stratospheric money – is it really all about starting with millions, or can you become a billionaire off your own back?
There’s one way to find out – and this weekly listen is one of my favourite podcasts for getting insights into figures that otherwise seem pretty far off – but who knows – you could be turning an amazing profit yourself if you listen to enough episodes!
The show’s run by The Investor’s Podcast Network, and previous episodes are here for you to listen to. There’s also a ‘starter pack’ you can check out if you want to hit the ground running with the show. I highly recommend it!
Best Investment Podcast for Inspiration: How I Built This
Similarly to We Study Billionaires, How I Built This is Guy Raz’s exploration of how some of the most successful and profitable brands came into being. It’s a huge toolkit of ideas that dig deep into how you can turn a winning idea into a steady profit.
Raz is no stranger to success himself – and in fact has a raft of other shows available that dig deep into technology, science, and corporate wisdom. His shows are all about tapping into that crucial creativity behind big success – and the HIBT podcast shows us that you can make it big in the markets without having a huge stock of money to begin with.
While this investment podcast works a little differently to the others as it sits from a position of the company founder. But, for anyone keen to start looking for insight into why some companies are worth investing in, it’s a fascinating listen.
You can start getting into How I Built This through its home base at Wondery, or through Amazon, Apple or Spotify.
Best Investment Podcast for Self-Improvement: Invest Like The Best
Finally, Invest Like The Best is a brilliant weekly podcast that lets you in on a few of the biggest investing secrets hidden behind some of the most profitable portfolios. Hosted by asset management CEO Patrick O’Shaughnessy, the show dives deep into exploring complex topics and showing listeners how they can turn lessons into investing gold.
O’Shaughnessy cares deeply about helping listeners make the most of their time, not just their money. He regularly welcomes founders and VCs onto his show to help listeners get into transferable lessons from their experiences. For example, he’s spoken to gurus at Uber Eats, Shopify and Kinko’s (later FedEx) – and big players at Sequoia, Standard Crypto and Lux Capital.
Lessons offered here include how to plan for greatness (spoiler – you really can’t) – as well as how to better invest your time, as well as money, into the projects and companies you’re passionate about.
Whether you’re keen on helping startups or want to give crypto a try, this podcast explores most of the burning topics affecting modern investors in the New 20s.

Is it worth listening to investment podcasts?
I find investment podcasts really insightful – while my interests will likely differ with the hosts and panellists I listen to, it’s always fascinating to hear about what drives people to make firm decisions on the markets.
What’s more, it’s just as interesting to hear about how you could make a fortune by investing. What I’ve learned most is that there’s no exact science – whether it’s crypto or bonds, you’re always going to need to find your own way.
I highly recommend all of the podcasts I’ve listed here, mainly because they should give you a nice breakdown of some of the most vital topics and issues facing investors today. Regardless of where you live and invest right now, these lessons are pretty universal.
Most of the shows I’ve listed here can also be found on some of the biggest podcast players online, meaning you’ll likely be able to tune in via Spotify, Apple or Stitcher most of the time.
