Many of us have subscriptions to multiple streaming platforms and gaming services – but these kinds of charges can build up at the end of the month and end up breaking the bank!
While scrolling through your recent charges and credit card statements, you may have found one or more that seemingly do not make sense. For example, a Google Disney Mobile Charge may seem completely out of the blue.
However, when you take a second look, you may find that while the name isn’t very clear, it could be a normal charge.
If you’re scratching your head over a Google Disney Mobile Charge and you’re unsure what to do about it, here’s a few potential reasons for such a fee showing up on your credit card statement.
Disney ESPN
ESPN happens to be a major culprit for Google Disney Mobile Charges – some do not realize that it would show up under the Disney name as a charge or even that they have subscribed to it at all!
If you log on to your ESPN streaming account and find this to be the source of the charge, thankfully, it is really easy to manage. All you have to do is head to your Google Play subscriptions, find ESPN Disney, and cancel the recurring charge. Like magic, these charges will stop from here on out.
Hulu
Hulu is also technically a Walt Disney-owned company. Therefore, if you have a Hulu subscription, it could show up as a Google Disney Mobile Charge on your bank or checking account.
While you may not think that you have Hulu, it is important to remember that they have a free trial period that runs for your first 30 days. After that, your account will start being charged. If you do not wish to keep it, then it is important to remember to cancel your subscription before any subsequent payments leave your account!
Many people slip up this way – me included (we’re only human!).
Disney+
If you have Disney+ (Disney Plus) or any of the subscriptions mentioned above on your phone (and you use an Android device and/or Google Play) they will likely appear as Google Disney Mobile Charges. Much like Hulu, Disney+ offers a seven-day free trial period during which you have access to all of their streaming content.
However, following those seven days, your account will start to receive recurring charges. Take note of any end dates for trial periods and make sure to stop them recurring if you can’t afford to stream!
Disney games
One cause for charges many tend to forget is mobile game and app purchases. There’s a chance that your charge has nothing to do with any subscriptions, but actually results from a game or multiple games purchased from your account in the Google Play Store.
Alternatively, you may also find these charges arise if you make in-game purchases. It’s always worth checking what your kids have access to via tablets and smartphones!
Disney games you may receive charges from include:
- Disney Frozen Free Fall
- Disney Frozen Adventures
- Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
- Disney Emoji Blitz
- Disney Tsum Tsum
- Disney Heroes: Battle Mode
- Disney Sorcerer’s Arena
- Inside Out Thought Bubbles
- Disney POP TOWN
- Where’s My Water?
- Crossy Road
- Disney Team of Heroes
- Disney Coloring Town
- Disney Maleficent Free Fall
And no – this list isn’t exhaustive! Check your devices and ask around anyone who’s likely to have access to your phones and/or tablets. There are other games from the Play store that can result in mysterious Google charges.
What to do if you have not made any payments to Disney
If, after searching through your subscriptions, accounts, and consulting your loved ones, you’re certain these purchases were made beyond your control, contact your bank or credit card company immediately.
In some cases, these kinds of purchases can be fraudulent, and you will need to place them in dispute. You may have to make an official complaint to be reimbursed, but it is important to do so as quickly as possible.
It will then be up to your bank or credit card company to ensure that your account is once again secure so that this kind of issue does not happen again. You may find that you have cards and/or PINs reset, and that you need to reset online banking credentials.
You can also raise complaints with Google Play and/or Disney if you wish, but it’s generally quicker to get reimbursed if you contact your bank directly.
Report Charges You Don’t Recognize
Google support officially states that any purchases from Google Play will appear under one of the following formats:
- “GOOGLE*App developer name” (for Android apps)
- “GOOGLE*App name” (for Android apps)
- “GOOGLE*Content type” (i.e. “GOOGLE*Books”)
If the charge isn’t in one of those formats, Google says that the charge did not officially come from them and it could therefore be fraudulent. The best course of action is to contact your credit card company or your bank and ask them to investigate further.
It’s important to recognize that when there’s a “GOOGLE*” at the beginning of the line, it means Google processed that charge on behalf of a third party, whether it be Disney Mobile or someone else. This should automatically make you think the charges are likely related to your Google account being charged through the app store on your Android mobile phone or possibly a Chromebook.
How to Avoid Mistaken Charges
Sometimes a family member may accidentally purchase something on the Play store or inside an app. The best way to avoid this is to ensure that you have turned on authentication for purchases through Google Play. For more details on how to do that for your particular device, please see Google’s guides on the topic.

Jon says

Teresa S Thiele says
I am being charged 10.99 for Disney Mobile…is that including my Disney plus on my home TV or it a separate charge because if so I certainly don’t want to pay for it…I never watch Disney on my phone, ever!
Jon says
Hi Teresa – Services like Disney+ allow you to watch on multiple devices, regardless of where you signed up. My guess is that you (or someone in your family) might have signed up through a mobile device or with a mobile service provider as part of a promo plan. So as long as you’re using the service, it doesn’t matter where the charge is coming from.
However to be doubly sure, I recommend logging in to your Disney+ account on the Disney website and ensuring that you are being billed correctly. They should have a record there. Please cross check your payment details with the Disney Mobile charge that you see to ensure they’re the same.
Alternatively, please check your credit card statements to ensure that you’re only being billed once for the service.
Hope that helps!
